Blank Canvas Project

The Petone business and retail district is growing. Jackson Street will soon be flanked by some serious “big box” retail stores. Our aim for this project is to protect Jackson Street’s vibrancy and culture and to provide balance with the inclusion of some large outdoor art pieces.

Here at Scratch Design we wanted to utilize our prime position and bring the entrance to life. We will commission 3 installations at this site each year.

We are excited about the future of this project and see this work as only the beginning, we want to see the initiative grow with the inclusion of additional installations along Jackson Street, with it then becoming the Petone Community Art Trail.

From the Artist:

I have been exploring how graphic design could contribute to society.
I believe graphic design has a power to influence a community positively.
This Petone Community Art Project was exactly what I wanted, the opportunity to change the face of Petone in a creative way.

P for Petone.

Vivid colours express Petone’s bright future and its vibrancy.
Unique objects represent Petone’s history and lively place.
